Jamaica 2009

We decided to try a new adventure this year. As we had never had the experience of an all inclusive resort and also had not visited Jamaica we thought we'd try a week. Our choice was Holiday Inn Sun Spree in Montego Bay.

It was a good choice. The resort is well laid out and well run. We wanted to try a name brand place for our first all inclusive adventure.

The trip began with a trip to Orlando airport with Brother Bruce and his wife Mae providing both the airport drop off and pick up. It helps when your brother lives near the airport. We live over an hour away. Not only did they pick us up at the airport but they left us a nice gift in the backseat of our car. A bag of grapefruit and a bag of oranges. It helps when your brother works in a fruit stand.

We arrived in Montego bay just after mid day and had a short shuttle ride to the resort. Check in was a breeze and we were soon settled in our nice room.

Meals were outstanding with dinner choices of two Italian one one Jamaican restaurant. We liked the Italian one the best. They also had two beach parties where they moved the dinner buffet to the beach and provided music and entertainment.

Drinks were very good and the choices excellent. We had read on the internet that it was fine to take your own drink containers so we chose insulated mugs. The mugs were perfect for the various frozen rum based drinks. Pina coladas and other assorted fruit drinks went well in the mugs. We did not try the local Red Stripe beer but were told that it was excellent.

Most of our time was spent lounging on the beach and enjoying the warm water and the beautiful beaches. There was a pleasant surprise on the beach when the young lady near us decided that it was fine to sun bathe topless. We did take a morning sight seeing and shopping tour and picked up some goodies and saw the local countryside. The sightseeing was best on the beach.

Then we had to return to reality and come back to Central Florida where we were greeted by unseasonably cold weather.

Now we can plan our next adventure.

What a great vacation! Your photos make me soooo envious! While you were away, all it did was snow here and the temperature hovered around 0! I was thinking of you two in Jamaica and it looks as great as I imagined! Thanks for the pics and words.
